Can maids use the swimming pool?

IT'S an adamant 'no' for some homeowners, as they feel it would cheapen the image of the condo.
Managing agent Chan Kok Hong from CKH Strata Management says: 'Generally, most condominiums do not allow maids to use the facilities.'

Condo owners liken this restriction to those found in private clubs.

The chairman of the Serenade@Holland condo, Mr Albert Cheng, is also against such use, given that maids are service providers.

'This also applies to security guards, cleaners and gardeners,' he adds.

Managing agent Teo Poh Siang from Wisely 98 believes that unless maids are employed to accompany children or elders, they should be prohibited from using the swimming pool or other facilities. 'This to avoid too many maids inviting their friends to congregate in one estate,' he adds.

But the treasurer at Tropical Spring condo, Mrs Sandy Wong, 49, feels that it is all right for maids to swim in the condo pool, as long as they do not invite their friends.
