THE former Siglap Primary School in LaSalle Street is up for tender.
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has approved the site for such educational purposes as a private school, day-care centre, or arts and drama centre.
It comprises a three-storey and a single-storey building, a basketball court and an open field.
The land was most recently used by the Association for Persons with Special Needs, also called the Katong Special School.
It has an estimated gross floor area of 24,305sqft and is being offered on an initial three-year tenancy with a renewal option for two further terms of three years and two years respectively.
The guide rent for the property, which is near the Siglap Shopping Centre and the East Coast Seafood Centre, is $42,900.
‘Based on the favourable response to our recent tenders for sites with commercial school as one of its approved uses, we have reason to believe this site will be similarly well-received despite the weak economic conditions,’ said Mr Teo Cher Hian, SLA’s director of land operations (private) division.
SLA has received 10 enquiries since the tender opened on Tuesday. Bids must be in by 11am on Feb24.
‘SLA has seen a healthy take-up of SLA-managed properties by the education sector, in line with the Government’s efforts to position Singapore as an education hub,’ added Mr Teo.
